The River Bar Steakhouse & Grill is located on the river at Quayside, with breathtaking views of Magdalene College (founded 1428).
We aim to serve the most tender, full flavoured steak, only ever using the finest prime beef aged for 28 days, fresh fish, great vegetarian dishes and homemade puddings
Our staff are friendly and professional, the restaurant has a relaxed Brasserie feel and food is served in the unique surroundings of the 19th century bonded warehouse, overlooking the River Cam that gives it lots of atmosphere.
The Steak & Wine Masterclass will give guests a gastronomic crash course from the establishment's expert suppliers before they enjoy a sumptuous three course meal using the restaurant's best produce.
Guests will learn all there is to know about this irresistible pairing - learning about different cuts from the cow, how the meat is sourced, the importance of the land on which a cow grazes thereby affecting the taste and pairing of different cuts of meat with different types of wine.
The evening will explain the background to the meat, and how the majority of the produce comes from Norfolk and Suffolk. Bancroft Wines will pair these with a selection of vintages from their superb French and Italian ranges as well as choices from their growing New World offering. Rarely do you get an opportunity to taste different steaks in one sitting and pair them with the great wines.
After the talking and tasting, guests will enjoy a delicious three course meal prepared by the head chef at The River Bar Steakhouse. Each guest will choose their favourite cut - whether it be a delicate and tender fillet, a succulent sirloin, rich rib-eye or juicy rump - enjoying them perfectly cooked to their taste and can pair it with Bancroft Wines' select recommendations or indeed the wine that they think most fits with the cut.
Places at the tasting master-class are limited at £40 per person, which includes a three course meal and wine. Places can be booked by emailing res@riverbarsteakhouse.com or calling 01223 30 70 30. The event starts from 6.30pm with a welcome drink followed by tasting at 7pm.
